"Great class, loved the atomosphere and grading style, capsim was probably the msot helpful way for me to learn
about the topic."
"Great professor that cares about students"
"Prof. Walker is a great individual, teacher, and helper! Keep this man"
"Thank you for a great year. I sincerely feel like I learned a lot more than just items from a text book. I have read all through your "Professor of Practice" and I think your teaching statement and philosophy are great. Keep up the good work in giving students a quality learning experience, which is not experienced merely learning through a textbook." Ty
"Scott was a a member of the teaching team for the Spring 2014 StartUp class. The StartUp class has been extremely
influential in my classes, teaching me how to listen to people and customers, adapt to meet design needs, and to ask
the question "Why?" The teaching team was awesome. They were a crucial part in keeping the class entertaining yet
informative. Scott in specific did a great job keeping the class on track while still being extremely personable and
respectable. More often than not it was Scott that my group was talking to after the three-hour class was over. If I
could take the class again, I would. I learned an incredible amount, and I owe a huge majority of that to Scott and the
teaching team." - David
"In the fall of 2014, I was enrolled in a start-up class taught by Scott Walker which was based out,of the NuSpark entrepreneurial space. The purpose of the class was to teach the Business Model Canvas pioneered by Steve Blank through lean start-up methodologies, and subsequently aide students in their ability to start successful businesses.
Scott was instrumental in helping me and my co-founders better understand our various customer segments and corresponding value propositions through the lens of the lean start-up principles. He demonstrated a clear comprehension and strong grasp of the material, especially how it translates into actionable information for start-up businesses. His coverage of the various aspects detailed on the BMC was done so in an entertaining and engaging manner. Using his personable delivery and teaching style, Scott made learning this new, substantive material as
seamless as possible for young entrepreneurs already overwhelmed by the numerous challenges of starting a business." - Drew
"Scott Walker acted as a teaching assistant, but was a greater part of the teaching and mentoring team for the StartUp
class in the spring of 2014. He handled most of the logistics and communication between students and staff. He helped
keep others on the teaching staff on track and helped make the class engaging. At points throughout the semester
when I was confused I could send him an email or question on scholar and would receive a prompt response either by
email or in person the next class. His dedication to both the class as a whole and individual student’s success was
apparent." - Hannah
"The class I attended with Scott Walker was both very informative and engaging. Scott clearly has valuable insight into
how start-ups are built and why they fail. He did a very good job emphasizing the importance of customer feedback in
order to remain agile and effective in a changing marketplace. He inspired intelligent conversation from the students
that brought new ideas to the table and gave helpful insight into how to test these new ideas." - Ryan
"Scott helped teach the Start-up class, which introduced students to entrepreneurship skills including product ideation,
customer discovery, and product development. While taking this class, one of the things that really stood out about
Scott was his ability to keep in contact with all of the groups all the time. If a group had a question, Scott always found
a way to provide an answer in an extremely timely manner. He was also able to offer guidance without giving away
direct answers, helping students to come up with solutions on their own. His personable character and ability to stay
in contact with students at all times made Scott a very valuable asset to the Start-up class as well as my own
academic success, and I strongly recommend him for another teaching position here at Virginia Tech." - Sean
