The StartUp Class offers guidance in the discovery phase of an entrepreneurial idea and product generation utilizing the concept methodology of the Lean Launch Pad. Innovation and Entrepreneurship are key characteristics that industry representatives desire in their newly graduated college hires. Learning outcomes are centered in creating technological and innovative leaders (3H, 3C).

Learning Objectives - Upon completing the Lean Launch Pad Independent Study, students will be able to:
1. Ideate to create possible solutions or approaches to address wide ranging and ambiguous problems or questions utilizing existing and new technology.
2. Demonstrate these solutions or approaches in the form of visualization, storyboards or generation of ideas.
3. Understand, explain and deploy the basics of business model canvas (BMC) and demonstrate the ability to apply the BMC to a repeatable scalable business based on the student’s idea.
4 Develop a minimum viable product (MVP) based on real customer feedback through customer discovery.
5. Effectively communicate business and product information to appropriate audiences
6. Produce common startup tangibles – specifically a value proposition based upon a customer segment that can be a repeatable scalable business.
7. Effectively communicate, critique and debate concepts and ideas of the Lean Launch Pad process and the BMC during group sessions.
8. Develop a strategy to be accepted into the Accelerate RB program of the Roanoke Blacksburg Innovation Network (RBIN).
